We at SiBAN wish to publicly acknowledge and commend the Nigeria Presidency for its position on the approach Nigeria needs to adopt in the emergence of Web 3.0, blockchain, and decentralized finance (DeFi) and re-emphasize why Nigeria must provide an enabling business environment for innovation to thrive for the collective good of the country and the Nigerian people.

BACFID is the innovation-support arm of SiBAN, Nigeria’s blockchain association. Launched at the maiden P2P Conference 2022, BACFID’s mission is to support blockchain & crypto innovations by creating avenues for access to funds and supporting project development, particularly local projects across key industries in order to secure Nigeria’s future in blockchain technology.

At the recently concluded Blockchain Associations Forum (BAF) attended by up to 56 blockchain associations and bodies around the world, including SiBAN who represented Nigeria, Senator Ihenyen, the SiBAN President, chaired the 7th session. Senator Ihenyen spoke briefly on the topic: ‘Cryptoasset Policymaking and the future of global economy: What went well, what didn’t go well, and what can we do better?’
In my New Year statement on 2 January 2022, I outlined the achievements of the current administration and identified the areas SiBAN needs to improve on in order to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our members as well as the Nigeria blockchain industry.
For accountability to you the SiBAN community that gave me mandate to serve as President, I state below the activities I have been involved in, with the support of the Executive Council, our partners, and of course the members of the SiBAN community, in the first half of the year as well as what I will be committed to in the closing half of 2022:
